Engineering at DADEY

Built so every send lands and every pesewa adds up

DADEY routes data and airtime across MTN, Telecel and AirtelTigo, keeps a double-entry ledger for every wallet, and tracks each order in real time, without compromising on security.

The DADEY engineering workstation

Our principle

A platform is only as reliable as the systems underneath it, so we build the plumbing as carefully as the screens.

The DADEY team shipping a release

How we build

Ship early, iterate fast, never drop an order

Speed and precision are not trade-offs here. We deploy small changes often, keep components modular, and listen closely to the agents who use the desk every day.

Every release still has to respect carrier protocols, reconcile against the ledger and keep checkout simple. If a change cannot be traced end to end, it does not ship.

What we hold ourselves to

Four rules behind every release

  • < 150ms P95

    Fast dispatch

Queued carrier orchestration and asynchronous webhooks get bundles onto the line in seconds, even at peak volume.

  • Zero discrepancy

    Double-entry ledger

Every pesewa in a wallet is a journal entry, reconciled automatically against Paystack and carrier records.

  • Signed & scoped

    Bank-grade security

HMAC-verified webhooks, strict role-based access, encrypted data at rest and automated fraud checks.

  • Clean systems

    Disciplined velocity

Strict typing and small, modular primitives let us ship weekly without piling up technical debt.

The stack

The tools we build with

DADEY is written in TypeScript on Next.js 16 and React 19, with MongoDB and Redis behind it and Paystack handling every cedi that moves.

  • Next.js 16

    Frontend

Server rendering, the App Router and streaming keep every page fast on a 3G connection.

  • React 19

    Frontend

Server Actions and concurrent rendering power checkout, wallets and the agent desk.

  • TypeScript

    Frontend

One set of types from the database model to the button, checked before anything ships.

  • Tailwind CSS

    Frontend

Shared design tokens so light mode, dark mode and every screen size stay consistent.

  • Node.js

    Backend

The runtime behind order dispatch, supplier sync and webhook handling.

  • MongoDB

    Backend

Orders, wallets and the ledger, with indexes tuned for lookups by reference and phone.

  • Redis

    Backend

Rate limits, queues and short-lived state that has to answer in under a millisecond.

  • Paystack

    Payments

MoMo prompts and card payments, confirmed by signed webhooks before anything is credited.

  • Web Push

    Infrastructure

Order and wallet updates delivered to the device the moment they change.

  • Sentry

    Infrastructure

Error tracking and tracing across the browser and the server.

  • Docker

    Infrastructure

The same container in development, staging and production.

Gideon Dadey, lead engineer

From the lead engineer

“Engineering DADEY is about removing the friction from data and airtime, so students, businesses and agents across Ghana get connected the moment they pay.”

Gideon Dadey leads the platform end to end, from carrier integrations, wallet ledgers and queues to the agent counter and the developer API.
